thelink – open access fibre servicing communities in the Top of the South

What is it? Where is it?

thelink is the largest open access regional fibre optic network in New Zealand and is owned and operated by Network Tasman Ltd, an electricity distribution company in the Nelson/Tasman area. Our network is capable of delivering almost unlimited bandwidth, enabling the transfer of information at the speed of light.

From Motueka to Nelson, Blenheim and Picton we provide customers in the Top of the South with cost-effective access to super high speed connectivity.

thelink - now offering Layer 2 Ethernet

For serious data transfer capability you can lease layer 2 ethernet or point to point dark fibre directly from thelink.

Or, contact one of our service providers – they’re in a unique position to help you.

If your present ICT provider isn't one of our service providers, ask them to contact us; we'd be happy to hear from them.

Ultra Fast Broadband UFB

thelink worked with Crown Fibre Holdings (CFH) during 2009 - 2010 to promote a regional fibre network for the Top of the South. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful in our bid for a partnership with CFH, and Chorus will now be overbuilding our fibre network in this region. thelink welcomes CFH into our region and looks forward to seeing fibre rolled out to residential properties over the next 9 years.

Business as usual will continue for thelink and our premium business fibre products will continue to be available in all main centres of our region including Motueka, Nelson, Richmond, Blenheim and Picton.

The productivity gains of UltraFast connectivity are often talked about, although it is difficult to find real life case studies. Two very different establishments have achieved remarkable results for their organisations using thelink fibre network. CFH have used these organisations as examples of what can be achieved with UltraFast connectivity. We invite you to have a look : Go to Cold Storage Nelson and Go to Appleby School.
